Mission: The Vanderbilt Center for Vascular Biology is committed to developing new therapies to treat common diseases by targeting the blood vessels that contribute to cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular, skin, ophthalmologic and pulmonary kidney disease.

Integrative Functions: The Center coordinates efforts of a cohesive group of outstanding basic research and clinical investigators, to define the molecular basis for blood vessel participation in disease. Novel targets for drug and biotherapy are developed rapidly through partnerships with biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. The Center's investigators are developing new approaches to image blood vessels and to modify their gene expression. The Center's laboratories provide an exciting and dynamic training experience for tomorrow's research leaders in this area.
