- International Student and Scholar Services. (ISSS)
ISSS fosters the education and development of international students and scholars of Vanderbilt University to enable them to achieve their educational goals and objectives. ISSS provides advice, counseling, and advocacy regarding immigration, cross-cultural, and personal matters and supports an environment conductive to international education via educational, social, and cross-cultural programs.
- All postdoctoral research fellows on J1 visas must attend the ISSS orientation, which is at 10 AM every Thursday in the ISS Office, 310 25th Ave. S, Student Life Center Suite 103. Phone: 2-2753. While registration is not required, it may be wise to call first to be sure they are holding orientation on the specific day that you wish to attend.

OIS provides full immigration advising and services associated with the following non-immigrant employment statuses:
H-1B and H-4 dependents
O-1 and O-3 dependents
TN-1 and TD dependents
In addition, OIS provides coordination for employment-based permanent residency.

The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs sponsors reduced-price
English classes, taught by Tennessee Foreign Language
Institute instructors. Fall, Spring and Summer courses
are offered with classes being held in the evenings. Space

The English Language Center at Vanderbilt offers academic
writing and academic speaking courses for international
scholars. Medical center students and postdocs are eligible
for a 47% tuition discount on one course. Additional course
