During my formative years I lived in St. Louis, Missouri. After graduating from high school I attended the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri and graduated with a B.S. in Biochemical Engineering. During college I spent one year studying philosophy in the Faculté de Lettres at the Université Jean-Moulin in Lyon, France. As an undergraduate my research interests were encouraged and cultivated in the organic chemistry laboratory of Dr. Kent Gates. My undergraduate research experience led me to further my scientific training in the Medical Scientist Training Program at Vanderbilt University. My general research interests surround mechanisms of inflammation. I am currently investigating mechanisms of inflammatory gene product regulation. In the future I plan a residency in Internal Medicine and research fellowship in Rheumatology. My husband and I enjoy outdoor activities and spending time with our two St. Bernards.
