I grew up in Duluth, MN.  After high school, I attended the University of Minnesota-Duluth and received a B.S. in biology in May 1994.  I worked for a few years after college first at Pillsbury and later at Aveda.  I then decided to return to school.  I moved to Nashville and began graduate school at Vanderbilt University where I worked in the lab of Dr. Jackie Corbin.  My dissertation work focused on the mechanism and function of dimerization of cGMP-dependent protein kinase, a mediator of vascular smooth muscle relaxation.  I joined the Marnett lab in August 2004 as a postdoc.  My current research project involves identifying and characterizing a receptor for the glycerol ester of prostaglandin E2.  Outside of work I enjoy homebrewing, watching hockey and football, and hiking.
