I was born and raised in Nashville, and I attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville where I obtained a B.A. in Psychology. I quickly discovered that psychology was not my true calling so I transferred to Florida State University where I obtained a B.S. in Chemistry. While at FSU I completed an honors thesis under Marie Krafft on asymmetric induction in the Pauson-Khand reaction. With a desire to further pursue synthetic organic chemistry I arrived at Vanderbilt University in 2002 where I chose to work in the Marnett lab. My current interest in the lab deals with the design and study of COX-2 inhibitors and their non-COX related effects. Outside of the lab I like to fish, golf, frisbee golf and I'm a pretty mean dart player.
