I was born in Hilton Head, South Carolina. I attended Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina where I graduated summa cum laude and received a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in chemistry with a minor in economics. As an undergraduate, I spent the summers working in different research labs both at Wofford and at the Medical University of South Carolina. After college, I enrolled in the Interdisciplinary Graduate Program at Vanderbilt University and now work in the laboratory of Dr. Lawrence Marnett in the Department of Biochemistry.
